BELAC aims to strengthen the parent/caregiver commitment to Bloomington Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) as well as advise and advocate on behalf of all of Bloomington Early Learning Services, which includes ECFE, Early Childhood Screening, preschool programming for three- and four-year-olds, and Early Childhood Special Education.
Build Community
We plan events and activities that bring ELS families together outside the classroom
Increase Awareness
We promote Bloomington ECFE and all ELS programs, acting as a link between ELS and the community
Advise and Advocate
We assist in developing the ELS programs as well as advocate for ELS in the legislature
Fundraise
We fund Advisory-sponsored events for ELS families, materials for early learner classrooms, and more
BELAC first held the End of the Year Picnic back in May of 2021 and it has grown to be a successful and fun way to celebrate with families, staff, and lots of FUN!
BELAC coordinates an info booth at the Bloomington Farmers Market to increase awareness for ECFE and the district’s other Early Childhood programs to Bloomington families and the wider community.
In February 2022 BELAC launched ECSE Connect, an online community for parents/caregivers of a child with a disability or delay.
In May 2022 BELAC raised $5,535 to buy new gym equipment for Bloomington’s two Early Learning Centers: Pond and Southwood Centers. We did this by sourcing corporate donations and hosting a 1-week donation drive.
